As founder of Glasgow Beattie Olsson, Thomas T. Glasgow is committed to representing clients in Schaumburg, Illinois, as well as in McHenry, Lake, DuPage and Cook counties. He focuses his practice on civil litigation, administrative law and criminal law defense cases that involve drug trafficking charges, aggravated felony DUI and DUI/DWI defense.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Mississippi, Mr. Glasgow went on to receive a Juris Doctor in 1994 on scholarship from Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology. While in law school, he made the dean’s list and participated in national trial competitions.

With more than two decades of experience, Mr. Glasgow is known for aggressively advocating on behalf of his clients, whether he is defending someone facing criminal charges or helping an entrepreneur launch a business. Local and national media, including the Cable News Network and FOX News Network, LLC, have sought Mr. Glasgow for his legal opinion on current events. For his achievements, he holds an Avvo “Superb” rating.

Mr. Glasgow is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.

The classification of state vs. federal crimes can be confusing. Generally, an individual may be charged with a federal offense if a federal law was broken, if the crime occurred on federal property, or if the crime figuratively crossed state lines.

At Glasgow, Beattie, Olsson, our Chicago federal criminal defense attorneys have experience in state and federal criminal courts. We are prepared to handle your case involving any federal crime:

  • Federal drug crimes
  • Credit card theft and identity theft
  • Weapons charges
  • Bank fraud
  • Counterfeiting
  • Wire fraud
  • Computer crimes

Federal charges are generally more complex and assign harsher penalties than state crimes. Additionally, federal sentencing guidelines may apply, which call for mandatory minimum sentences for federal criminal charges. It is critical that your attorney has specific experience handling criminal charges. Not all attorneys do.

Before opening the Law Offices of Thomas Glasgow, Ltd. in Schaumburg, Illinois, Attorney Thomas Glasgow was a Cook County State’s Attorney who prosecuted cases ranging from DUI, to multi-kilo felony narcotic cases, to murder. From 1994 until 1998, he worked in the Traffic Division, the Narcotics Division, the Juvenile Division, and the Felony Review Division. In each of these positions he tried both misdemeanor and felony bench and jury cases, supervised other attorneys, interviewed defendants and witnesses, and helped prepare criminal cases for trial.

“I served as a State’s Attorney because I wanted to help people. However, one of the reasons I decided to go into private practice was that I felt the criminal justice system can be a revolving door. I wasn’t able to assist people on a one-on-one level. Through my criminal defense law practice, I have had the ability to change more people’s lives than I could as a prosecutor. With two other experienced attorneys, we represent clients in all types of criminal and civil matters in both Illinois Federal and State Courts.” -Thomas Glasgow

At the newly renamed law firm of Glasgow, Beattie, Olsson, we realize getting people on the right path toward becoming a good citizen is an important goal of our firm. In fact, we have numerous thank-you notes from former clients whose lives we have changed by winning their case.

In addition to criminal charges, we help people who need representation in the area of family law, including divorce proceedings and child support issues. We also have experience in other areas of civil representation, including administrative law, licensure, contract disputes, construction litigation, and insurance disputes.

“Glasgow, Beattie, Olsson has been named a “10 Best Law Firm” in Illinois for client satisfaction by the American Institute of Criminal Law Attorneys (AIOCLA).”
